Love Never Dies, continued

If you missed it, last night I sort of freaked out about the new musical sequel to Phantom of the Opera. At that point, I was halfway through listening to it. Now I've finished it and I am listening through it one more time, just to laugh some more. But here are my continued thoughts.
Here are other lol-worthy moments:
1. Erik (typically) sings about darkness and missing Christine and angst and horror, etc., etc. And mentioned in the song is smoke. I WILL FOREVER BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A REFERENCE TO THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS. (Smoke and mirrors, that's all it is!)
2. Meg Giry is completely NUTS. I thought her mother was crazy, but no, it's Meg.
3. There are some seriously slashy moments between Erik and Gustave (Christine's kid). I can only imagine what the scenes are like onstage, but even on the cast recording they sound slashy. I don't know what to think about this, except maybe how does Christine think this is okay? The guy who has a thing for her has a thing for her kid as well, I guess because he's a lot like her? But also like Erik so we can I have some narcissism going on? GUYS, I DON'T EVEN KNOW.
4. The end is super-confusing, sort of like the first time I listened to Sunset Boulevard. But basically Meg kidnapped Gustave because she was jealous that Erik loved Christine and not her. I think maybe she was going to kill the kid; I couldn't really tell. She had a gun. And then she shot someone else. Actually, I thought it was her mother, and maybe her mother did get shot, but obviously her mother has to live because she's in the prologue. Then I thought it was Erik, since it sounded like he was having a death duet. I figured that was a pretty suitable ending for him.
I went online to find a plot summary, just to clear things up, and there really isn't one. Apparently the cast recording was mistakenly released online then quickly taken down, but not before some people managed to download it. So I guess that's how I stumbled on it. I didn't know this, but apparently I'm one of the first people to listen to it? Whatever. Eventually I found a site that listed some spoilers. After commenting that Raoul is straight out of a Lifetime movie, they got to the good stuff.
APPARENTLY MEG SHOOTS CHRISTINE. BUT NOT BEFORE SHE TRIES TO DROWN CHRISTINE AND GUSTAVE.
All of that went right over my head, I assure you, which is why I'm listening to this again. But so I guess Christine dies and Raoul leaves because Erik can apparently give Christine so much more than he can (I don't know what he's thinking...Erik is a total sociopath. At least Raoul's only flaw is that he acts a lot like Hindley from Wuthering Heights. Who, okay, wasn't the greatest guy, but was better than Heathcliffe.) But anyway, all of this means that now Erik gets to be in charge of Gustave. There is no way that can go well.
Do I hear another sequel on the horizon?
...I hope not.
