Never Let Me Go

I finished the book yesterday and watched the movie today. I really want to like them both, but I don't know if I can. I wanted more emotion. The trailer is brilliant, though. It has all the emotion that I was looking for.

Lol, yeah I watched the movie on the plane (I was so glad it was there, since I was bummed to have missed it in the States!), though there were sound issues cutting out half the sound I feel in the first half of the movie....I thought it was okay, but yeah, more emotion perhaps. I thought the best part was during the operation scene when they had the flashbacks, flashbacks ALWAYS kill me, lol. I think I might read the book someday, and I'm glad I saw the movie first since then it's more likely that I will like both, I think. I like how they did they romance with Catherine and Tommy, how they made it more overt as children from what I heard in the books. I don't like Keira Knightley much, but they made her character horrible and annoying enough in the movie that it was almost okay. The trailer was certainly misleading though, for me, I thought Ruth/Tommy would be the big central relationship, lol. Glad I was wrong...

Yeah, the flashbacks were really good.

Ruth/Tommy meant a bit more in the book, which bothered me a little about the movie--I thought they made Ruth really flat. Which I was okay with in a weird way, because--like you--I'm also bothered by Keira Knightley.

I think I liked the book slightly more, but the movie was very pretty.
