1. Choose a favorite fairy tale, folklore, fable, myth or legend
2. Name 5 things about it that feed or spark your creativity.
3. Name 5 things about it that you wish had been done differently.
4. Brainstorm a different universe where you keep something like the first five and take a good stab at fixing the next five. What kinds of stories arise there?
5. Start one story outline and see if the plot faerie blesses it.

1. Swan Lake

2. ~I love von Rothbart because, half the time, he’s my von Rothbart—not that bright, but very lucky—and the other half the time he’s this really scary bad guy.
~I also love Odette. So I like strong female characters. Shoot me.
~I like it when Odette and Siegfried die. I do not like it when they come back to life, because that makes the spell kind of useless, no?
~I like the swan maidens, and figuring out what happened to them afterwards. Also, they take a backseat for so much of the story, and I wonder how they feel about that.
~The princesses. There’s so many plot bunnies with them. For example, I’ve got one story where the Italian princess is actually in love with her escort, and is overjoyed that Siegfried picks Odile. Or Odette. Whatever.

3.~The colorblind prince. *slaps Siegfried on the head* No one is that stupid.
~More characterization for the swan maidens, which I realize you can’t get into in the ballet, but still.
~Odile. She’s like a bad plot device not-so-sneakily pulled out of the closet. But she has a lot of potential, and I love her to death.
~von Rothbart/Odile. Did it happen or not? I kind of like yes…but probably that’s just me, who also ships Arthur/Morgan.
~Odette and Siegfried do not have a shady death. They die. The end.

4. Stargate SG-1. I’m sorry, it’s the first thing that popped into my head, and that’s kind of the point, no?

5. Ba’al is von Rothbart, definitely and, dare I say it, but that makes Vala Odette and Daniel Siegfried.
I can’t believe I just wrote that.
Let’s see where this goes.
