Title: queen that was, queen that shall be
Fandom: His Dark Materials

She shivers as she looks at the lights dancing in the sky--not from cold, of course, but out of awe. She'd forgotten. It was so easy to forget where she had come from, with simple cloth covering her arms and dead wood surrounding her. Now she stood in the snow and darkness, a crown of leaves on her head, white dress hugging her body, and a queenship she did not want on her shoulders. She would bear it, though. She would do her duty, she would forget the forgetting, and she would loser herself in the light.

Most days, she managed not to think about him in any inappropriate way, but only just. She was rather appalled that her emotions were really that out of check. At Mossad, she would never have considered a superior officer, even if it meant a promotion. But this was, of course, not Mossad. Still, she liked to think that she was in control, and it was very apparent that she was not. Not when she tried so hard to act like a good little NCIS agent (better than a good little agent) every time he was in the room.

Her heart had never been easy to control, she reasoned, as she gathered her things to go home. It had been a hard case, emotionally, if nothing else. A little girl had nearly been killed, and her mother had been killed. Tony and McGee had already left on some errand for Gibbs before they could go home, so she had no banter to distract her from her thoughts. She knew that she still loved Ari--always would, even given what he did--so there was obviously no controlling her heart. But she tried not to think about Ari at all. There were too many questions there that she would never have answers to.

"Ziva."

She didn't jump, but only because she'd been trained not to. It was always about control.

She watched him watching her. It was after hours, and most people had already gone home, but she refused to entertain the notion that everything narrowed to a point somewhere between the two of them.

"I'll take you home," he said.

She reminded him that she had her own car and was quite capable of driving it.

She didn't fool herself into thinking that his eyes darkened.

"I, however, can take you home," she said, and wondered what she was doing.

"Do I look like I need a ride, Officer David?" he asked, and the moment passed.

Title: Non-disclosure
Fandom: NCIS / Stargate SG-1
Prompt: Classified
Rating: PG
Word Count: 547

"Just sign it!" Gibbs says, finally fed up with Tony's Why would we work with the Air Force and Ziva's I do not understand and McGee's trying to explain things to her, even though he hasn't signed, either, so he doesn't actually know.

Tony finally does sign, though he doesn't stop grumbling about the Air Force interfering with their investigation. Gibbs doesn't bother explaining that, in this case, the only way they're going to find out what happened is to sign.

One Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Carter, who Tony had tried--and failed, much to Ziva's amusement--to flirt with, looks over the papers, then smiles at Gibbs. "Come on," she says, and they follow her outside to a waiting limo.

"Fancy," Tony says.

Inside, the rest of the Colonel's entourage is waiting--a black man with the strongest hat that Tony has ever seen, another colonel, but this one not of the gender that he tends to flirt with, and a civilian.

"You two would get along great," he tells McGee.

McGee makes a sour face and lets Ziva get in before him.

"Are we there yet?" Tony asks as they speed down the freeway. Not the best thing he's ever come up with, but he needed to break the silence somehow.

Gibbs shoots him a warning look, which he studiously ignores.

Ziva ignores him, smiling slightly, and watches Samantha Carter's team. They're all looking shiftily at one another, except for the man with the chicken hat, who is looking stoically out of the window. She wonders about the hat, and what significance it could possibly have.

Twenty minutes and two movie references later, they are ushered into a nondescript building and an even more nondescript room. Ziva can tell that Tony is trying to come up with some sort of snide remark.

The McGeek of the Air Force--Johnson, or something like that--moves to the front of the room and stands facing them, hands in his pockets. "You are probably wondering why we brought you here."

Uh, yeah, Tony thinks, but he doesn't say it. Five minutes later, he is in a mild state of shock, and really wants to say something. A lot of somethings. He settles for one. For now.

"It's like the X-Files," he whispers to Ziva.

"The Navy has its own organization to deal with aliens?" she asks him, which just makes him roll his eyes.

In their process of moving around in his skull, he notices the apparent state of ecstasy that McGee is experiencing. He opens his mouth to make a comment about it, but McGee beats him to it.

"So, our missing person was kidnapped by aliens?" He sounds only slightly incredulous.

Johnson, or whatever his name is, looks uncomfortable. "Yes," he says, drwing the word out.

Gibbs cuts right to the point. "How do we find him?"

Johnson looks even more uncomfortable.

"You don't," the other colonel--Mitchell--says, standing up.

Like hell we don't, Gibbs' eyes say.

"Look," Johnson says, taking his glasses off and pinching the bridge of his nose. "We're telling you this so you stop your investigation. You're going to get into things that are just too dangerous. We're handling them."

"Right," Tony says, which is why he's now leaning over McGee's shoulder, staring at a computer, as they try to break into Cheyenne Mountain.

Title: this blood on my hands
Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Ziva/Ari
Prompt: Blood
Rating: PG-13 for incest
Word Count: 252

All her life, he was the only one she could depend on. It was he who washed her bloody knees when she slipped and fell, he who came to watch her dance, and he who taught her to shoot a gun. Her father only had time for one of those things, and it was shooting. She never hated him for that--he was an important man, with better things to do than worry about a single daughter, and besides, she had Ari.

When he kissed her, she wasn't surprised. He was leaving for school in Europe, and they would not see each other again for several years. She savored the feel of his lips against hers, trying to plant he memory of that warmth deep inside of her. Her eyes fluttered open as he pulled back. Their gazes met. "I love you," he said. "Never forget that."

She tried not to look at the blood on the basement floor. It was a useless attempt to protect herself, but she had to do something. She looked at his face instead, which was almost worse. Almost. Someone had to remember this, though, and she was the only one left. Her gaze roamed over his face, his beautiful face. Except for her bullet-hole in his head... But she didn't want to finish that thought. She watched his face until her vision blurred and she could no longer see at all.

Title: the things we do for love
Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Gibbs/Tony/Ziva
Prompt: Consolation
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 459
Warning: Spoilers for "Judgment Day"

Tony categorically refuses to let Ziva drive, which is fine, since she didn't bring her car that day, anyway. She needed to run and try to clear her head, or maybe just run away.

"I could drive," she says, because she knows Tony is pointing it out to distract himself. She wishes she had some distraction.

"Why haven't you two gone home yet?" Gibbs asks, startling them both.

"You haven't either, Boss," Tony says, then immediately looks uncomfortable, and not just because Gibbs is no longer their boss.

"We will take you home," Ziva says, looking directly at Gibbs, daring him to disagree. It isn't an offer.

"We will?" Tony says, surprised. He sees the look they are sharing and shuts up.

"Come on," Ziva says.

For a reason that none of them can quite divine, they all get into Tony's car. No one asks Gibbs if he brought his own car. They ride in silence.

When they pull off of NCIS property, Ziva realizes that Gibbs has his hand on her shoulder, its weight heavy and constant. Her hand is on Tony's knee, and she sits there, connecting the three of them.

*

Gibbs asks them in for something to drink, and they accept. What he means is that he's going to drink a beer or three and if they feel uncomfortable just dropping him off, they can come inside and feel uncomfortable there instead. What they mean is that they are too shocked and sorrowful to be on their own.

They follow Gibbs to the basement where he promptly sits down and opens a beer. Tony sits down, too, but Ziva leans against a wall and stares at a spot on the floor. Suddenly there is so much space between the three of them that it is almost unbearable.

"Ziva."

She looks up out of the past. "Why is it always about loss?" she asks quietly.

"It's not," Tony says, because someone has to.

"Prove it."

Gibbs moves first, his lips suddenly against hers. She blinks, but only for a minute, before pressing against him, hard. She doesn't stop to think about why they are doing this. It's grief, of course, and loss, and the need to feel alive, and she just presses her mouth harder against his.

Tony stares for a few seconds. He can't help it. Then, without thinking about it, he's crossed the room, and has his hands on Ziva's waist. Her hips respond to his touch as she pulls her head back to gasp. Gibbs tilts his head, and suddenly Tony is kissing him. Kissing him. He nearly pulls back in shock, but a hand--Ziva's hand--is holding his head in place.

It's at that point that they stop thinking altogether.

I love the Gibbs/Ziva one (of course). The bittersweetness is very touching. I would love a sequel - Gibbs and Ziva have so much potential in so many situations, good, bad, or a combination.

They do have a lot of potential, I definitely agree. As for a sequel...possibly. There will definitely be more Gibbs/Ziva in the future. I'm just not sure if it'll be connected or not. :)

Oh I love them! Especially of course the Ziva/gibbs one. I love how you brought up her twisted situation with Ari and Gibbs and her need to be in control. I think that's an essential part of her, that comes up far too less. Very well written!

I agree. I think the whole Ari backstory could be explored so much. I really, really like the whole interaction that could be played out there that is never really touched upon. And, yes. Ziva really wants to be in control, which I just find compelling.

Thank you! :)
