This mix is loosely related to a few of the requests at
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
The mix is divided roughly into two parts - songs explicitly about Mary Magdalene, and then songs that are not so explicitly about her.
By the way, I'm Christian.

1. The Ballad of Mary Magdalen, Richard Shindell My name is Mary Magdalen I come from Palestine Please excuse these rags I’m in But I’ve fallen on hard times But long ago I had my work When I was in my prime But I gave it up, and all for love 2. Mary (B-Side), Tori Amos Growing up isn't always fun They tore your dress and stole your ribbons They see you cry, they lick their lips But butterflies don't belong in nets 3. Maria Magdalena, Sandra You take my love You want my soul I would be crazy to share your life Why can't you see what I am Sharpen the senses and turn the knife Hurt me and you'll understand 4. Asilos Magdalena, The Mars Volta En mi vida, el oscuro me mantiene cuando yo te vi en la lluvia me prometistes tu sangre 5. Marys of the Sea, Tori Amos Les Saint Marie de la Mer You will dance the ring Marys of the Sea The lost bride weeps Les Saint Marie de la Mer We will dance your ring 6. Mary's Prayer, Danny Wilson So when you find somebody to keep Think of me and celebrate I made such a big mistake, when I was Mary's prayer 7. My Skin, Natalie Merchant I've been treated so wrong, I've been treated so long as if I'm becoming untouchable I'm a slow dying flower I’m the frost killing hour Sweet turning sour and untouchable 8. This Girl Is Taking Bets, Thea Gilmore This girl is the flutter of fake lashes in the mirror She's a ragged edged fedora or a Spanish souvenir This girl is the clean cut, she's the frozen ground She's a knife drawn down the side street when there's no-one else around 9. I Bruise Easily, Natasha Bedingfield I bruise easily, so be gentle when you handle me There's a mark you leave, like a love heart carved on a tree I bruise easily, can't scratch the surface without moving me Underneath I bruise easily, I bruise easily 10. I Don't Know How to Love Him, Yvonne Elliman Yet, if he said he loved me, I'd be lost. I'd be frightened. I couldn't cope, just couldn't cope. I'd turn my head. I'd back away. I wouldn't want to know. He scares me so. I want him so. I love him so. 11. Catch-22, katesmeow 'N I'll gaze into forever It's better than keeping time 'N in his eyes i see a silhouette of regret 'N my anxiousness is nothing new Oh, at least, not to you 12. Leave the Pieces, The Wreckers You're not sure that you love me But you're not sure enough to let me go Baby it ain't fair you know To just keep me hangin' 'round 13. Sorry, Maria Mena And I say baby, yes I feel stupid to call you, but I'm lonely And I don't think you meant it when you said you couldn't love me And I thought maybe if I kissed the way you do, you'd feel it too 14. Proof, Rachael Sage And I know the reason why You keep coming back for proof 'Cause you're sharp as a steeple Strong enough to scratch hell And your soul is as fragile As a fallen angel 15. Broken, Elisa Just pieces of truth that I chose to keep and No matter if now they are gone No matter if I am alone Still I can get back on my feet and walk on As I know there was something to learn I know there will always be more worth moving on for |

Date: 2009-03-27 04:40 pm (UTC)I do think that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were more than just good buds. There are a lot of people who agree and support the idea. He was fully god and fully man, yes? Therefore to be fully man it would have been socially reasonable for him to take a wife- as well as emotionally expected for him to fall in love. -_^
Kudos to you for such innovative thinking.

Date: 2010-06-30 10:03 am (UTC)1) Let you know that I loved the mix and and utterly dejected that I lost it, and;
2) Ask if there is any way you could perhaps upload it again? If not, cool, I more than understand. But. I love it. And so I ask.
Either way--thanks for an awesome mix, and I'm sorry I failed at letting you know how cool it was back then!
